About Us

The Magazine’s Founders

Peter Majerle is a native Minnesotan (U.S.A.) currently living in Heredia, Costa Rica. His work has been published in over a dozen media. Peter is a student of North American and Latin American culture, politics and society. He is a native English speaker and fluent in Spanish.

Andrés Madrigal is a Costa Rican photographer and graphic designer. Over the years he has focused most of his work on the tourism sector, which he finds most rewarding. He is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English. He lives in the mountains of San Jeronimo de Moravia with his wife, daughter and 3 cats.

The Story

Traveler was born out of long nights of frustration. Andrés and Peter had met while working at another tourism mag (which is now defunct and shall remain nameless). Poor management of that magazine, coupled with a market flooded with low-quality publications, got them to thinking. So they posed a question: If we made our ideal travel magazine, how would it be? Much blood, sweat and penny-pinching later, the first edition of Traveler hit the market. The rest, as they say, is history.  

The Result

After spending the last five years traveling Costa Rica, the Traveler team has put together the most comprehensive compilation of travel and cultural information on the country. Every two months we publish a new issue that explores a different aspect of the country, offers updates and delves further into the Costa Rican psyche. The quality of our magazine is in line with the high level of passion we feel for what we do.
