¿CÓMO AYUDAMOS A SALVAR EL BOSQUE LLUVIOSO EN RAINFOREST ADVENTURES?

El bosque lluvioso es la comunidad más rica que existe en el planeta. Nosotros en Rain Forest Adventures nos esforzamos para protegerla y conservarla.  Debido a los logros que tienen nuestras iniciativas y los resultados positivos que hemos obtenido, el Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía de Costa Rica, nos premió con la Bandera Ecológica, la que se otorga a empresas e instituciones, cuyas actividades sean beneficiosas para el medioambiente y que promuevan la puesta en marcha de prácticas y sistemas de sostenibilidad ambiental.

Cuando se otorga este premio, se toman en cuenta varios factores: Asegurar que el desarrollo de un medioambiente equilibrado, sea de forma saludable y ecológica y que se convierta en el mecanismo de dirigir todas las actividades productivas, hacia el desarrollo sostenible, por medio de fuertes políticas y compromisos para la conservación del ambiente.

Nosotros, verdaderamente, nos preocupamos por el bosque lluvioso y queremos compartir con usted, algunas de las prácticas que usamos y enseñamos a diario:

Sensibilidad desde el  principio
Todas nuestras torres y el sistema de cableado se colocaron con helicópteros para así minimizar el impacto en el ambiente.

Adopte una hectárea
Nuestra empresa protege cientos de hectáreas alrededor del mundo, que a su vez acogen 2.000 especies de plantas exóticas, 400 especies de aves, cientos de animales, millones de insectos y fuentes de agua pura.

Plante un árbol
Cada año los niños que visitan los Teleféricos del Bosque Lluvioso plantan cientos de árboles.

Recicle residuos sólidos
La clasificación de los residuos es muy importante para nosotros. Por eso, contamos con un sistema de clasificación en todos los parques. De esta forma, ayudamos a transmitir la  información acerca de esta práctica.

Protegemos el bosque lluvioso
Patrullamos el bosque lluvioso y sus alrededores para evitar la presencia de cazadores furtivos.

Oportunidades de empleo
Hemos llevado a cabo de forma exitosa, la contratación de personal que anteriormente cortaban árboles o que eran cazadores furtivos. Por medio de la información, se han convertido en guías y modelos para sus comunidades.

Proyectos de conservación para salvar a la Lapa Roja
Nuestro Teleférico del Pacífico es el lugar perfecto para el anidamiento de esta ave tan impresionante y hemos desarrollado técnicas especiales para su conservación.

Ahorro Energético
Las toallas de nuestro albergue sólo se lavan cuando nuestros invitados lo solicitan.
Las sábanas de nuestras habitaciones sólo se cambian cuando el huésped lo sienta necesario.

Ejemplo Mundial
El Gobierno Costarricense nos ha declarado de Interés Público y Nacional, gracias a los estudios de impacto ambiental que guían nuestras prácticas.

I had heard that Pacuare River, which we would raft that day, is one of the best rivers for rafting in Costa Rica, so I sure was excited for the trip.

After a hearty breakfast of gallo pinto and eggs, we made our way to Tres Equis, Turrialba, where we met our river guide, Luis, and got all the equipment for the tour. We were also told that we were lucky, because it had been raining the nights before which meant that the river was the perfect height for an exciting but still safe ride. After the usual safety instructions and a small try out on land, we jumped in the boat and went off to face 18 miles and around 50 rapids, which we would raft that day.

Even though I’ve been traveling the country for almost eight years now, I’ve never been there. There is something relaxing about exploring Costa Rica’s countryside, where the urban chaos and stress seem more foreign around every bend in the gravel road.

After checking out some of the countryside, we’ll head to Sarapiqui at Pozo Azul for a chance to raft the class-III Sarapiqui River. Whitewater rafting is one of my favorite activities in Costa Rica: you travel through dense tropical rainforests along pristine, rushing waterways amid perfect temperatures and just enough action to get any adrenaline junky’s mojo working.

I haven’t personally been to the Sarapiqui River this year, so I’m eager to check out how the flow has changed since the Cinchona earthquake this past January.

Canopy tour and rafting, two activities combined in a one-day tour just 45 minutes from San Jose

Fly through the rainforest’s treetops as well as get an adrenaline infusion on the rapids of the Rio Chirripó. This is the new experience offered by the Rain Forest Aerial Trams and Augas Bravas for local and international tourists.

Safety is another advantage on this tour. Both RFAT and Aguas Bravas are highly experienced in this matter, and they guarantee the safety of participants on both aspects of the tour.

The Perfect Place For Rafting

The experience starts on the Rio Chirripó, located in Guápiles de Limón. This river has a steep-sided canyon and pure water that comes from Braulio Carrillo National Park and Irazú Volcano.

High-Speed Adventure

After the rafting segment of the trip, a minibus will take travelers to the RFAT’s facilities. There, expert guides will give a safety talk so that visitors can have an adventure in the treetops. This circuit has 10 cables of between 200 and 300 meters each which together form over 1,300 meters of airborne fun.

Once the canopy tour is over, guests can recharge with lunch at the Aerial Tram’s restaurant.

What to bring and reservations

Bring a change of clothes, closed-toed shoes for water (like crocks), sunscreen, and a swimming suit.
